Just saw the 2008 counts, Does not look so good for southwest region. Counts are lower than last year.

I read the counts. I also saw that parts of Nevada have very good counts. http://www.ndow.org/hunt/seasons/upland/2008_Chukar_Forecast.pdf
I have heard that Utah numbers are down also.

Hummm...Nevada could be the place to be this year. I guess there is always somewhere to travel, explore, and hunt.

Karl, what area do you have in mind to hunt? I have spoke with several people who make an annual pilgrimage to Nevada, and they are always bragging up the area. They spoke of two counties to go to, Winnemucca and Elko. In fact, they were very entertained with the abundances of quail, too.
I came across this website a while back, and it had a great read about the Himalaya Snowcock and how hard they are to hunt. These guys are a great source of information as well.

I have not finalized my plans yet. But, certainly one option is the Winnemucca area. I've been told there is a great bass lake there too.
